Why do you define your music as "True American Satan Rock"?
STEVE: It initially began as a joke, because a mother called our "devil music"
satan rock. Then there is the parody of True Norwegian Black Metal. Even though
it started as just a joke it has become our style. We play satan rock - not black
metal, not death metal, not grind, not hardcore, etc...
Are you completely satisfied with "None as bloody as the Kingdom of Christ"?
STEVE: I'm very pleased with the way it turned out, but as an artist I am
incredibly critical of my own work...
How did your music change since "The Bane of Your Existence"?
STEVE: We found our nitch. TBOYE demo was recorded when we were only together
for a few months. Everything is much tighter, composed better an so on.
Are you composing new material? Do you have plans of releasing a new record?
STEVE: We have a lot of new material that we are putting out this winter. A full length
called Cheap Sex and Painkillers. It's definitly gonna blow NSBATKOC away.
How different is Mike Beer playing from Paul´s?
STEVE: Mike is faster, heavier, steadier and all around more creative. Paul
reached a point where he just wasn't creative anymore, so he had to go.
How important is brutality in your music?
STEVE: Very important. Honesty is brutality in it's purest form, and our
music couldn't be more honest.
What are The Seventh Gate´s lyrics about?
STEVE: Lyrics on NSBATKOC dealt a lot with isolation, depression, despair, hopelessness,
rape, suicide, abandonment and so on. For CSAP, the lyrics deal with ideas, but in a
different level. For example, finding hope in a world of complete despair and hopelessness.
Are you playing live shows to support" None as bloody..."?
STEVE: All the time. No large scale tour just yet though. Money is a bitch like that.
Which are your main influences?
STEVE: Personally, Ben Falgoust, Sammie Duet, Dax Riggs, and Phil Anselmo.
Something more to add?
