How is the recording of new material going? Do you have a new album ready?
Rev. - It is kicking ass! All of the songs on this new album will
have a separate vibe/sound. We have stayed heavy but made each song
sound a little different from the others on there. It is still 100%
Metal!
Wally - We are getting ready to record in the next few days. We
have some killer, heavier songs for the new cd.
How would you compare the new material with the one in "The Second Coming"?
Rev. - The overall sound (music wise) is the same, but the variety
of the way the songs are played is different on each song. Don't worry,
it is not some bullshit "Nu-Metal".... ORDAINED fans & fans of Heavy
Metal will not be disappointed.
Wally - The new songs are way heavier. The band is fresh again with
the addition of our new guitar player Mike Pagan.
Why did you choose to call the MCD "The resurrection of Mortimus
Grimley?
Rev. - We choose this title because we re-recorded a track
(Mortimus Grimley) from our first album "Let Us Prey". Mortimus Grimley
is a character that is never quite dead or alive. You can see him and
check out his story on our website at http://www.ordained.net. We have
an online comic book featuring Mortimus himself.
How do you see the evolution of the band since "Let Us Prey"?
Wally - We have all grown up together in the last 6 years. We have
learned what each other is getting ready to do next on stage and writing
songs. We have also learned about the business side of music. I have
learned to always tell it like it is.
What are Ordained´s lyrics about?
Rev. - ORDAINED has lyrics that run the entire range from horror,
gore, violence, mortality, the afterlife, etc. SINce we are a very
visual band, lots of the songs have elements that can be used in a live
setting, to better project ourselves to our congregation. We usually
say that the songs are about either Satan, drugs or violence against
women. HaHaHa!
Which are your main influences?
Rev. - We all have vast SINfluences from all over. I read alot, as
well as go to the cinema every week. Personally, my biggest SINfluences
are (in no order): Motley Crue, KISS, David Bowie, Motorhead and Alice
Cooper.
Wally - My biggest influences as a drummer are Tommy Lee ( the
greatest of all time ), John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge, Alex Van Halen, and
Scott Travis who got me started playing the drums. My favorite artists
are Elvis Presley, Motley Crue, Van Halen, Judas Priest, AC/DC.a lot
of 80's bands.
Which are your memories on the recording of your 1996 2 song demo?
Rev. - My only memories of that time are just the hatred for all the local bands where we live. That is the entire reason we started ORDAINED. We were determined to blast their lame asses out of the
water, and to look and be as crazy as possible live onstage while doing it!
Wally - ORDAINED had just started then and it was new and exciting.
I would rather look towards the future.
Which are your expectations on the Metal Mind Rage Festival?
Rev. - It will be a chance for ORDAINED to reach a new audience and
add to our congregation. We are looking forward to expanding to a new
market where we have never performed in before.
Wally - I hope to see some good bands and meet some people who can
help ORDAINED with our career. I know ORDAINED will kick ass!
Which is Ordained connection with pornstar JR Carrington?
Wally - Ah ha! My favorite subject-porn!! I met J.R. Carrington
recently about possibly doing a theme song for her, much like the band "
The Renegades Of Sluts " did for porn queen Brittany Andrews. J.R. and I
had a great meeting and she is now my girlfriend!
Something more to add?
Rev. - ORDAINED would like to thank all of our congregation for
their support and SINterest over the years. The new ORDAINED album
"Altar Ego" will be available this fall, we are hoping for a Halloween
release. Check out the Official SINternet Home of ORDAINED at
