How was the band formed?
Necrópolis was born in the city of Córdoba in mid-august 1995,product of a disgregation of bands: Pablo Camiletti, on guitar and vocals and Pedro Larrahona, on bass ,join the old members and creators: Guillermo Gómez, on guitar and voclas and Lucas Martinez on drums.
Is it correct to say that you are a death/thrash metal band?
We are not so taxative, Incertidumbre is a record not well defined, with influences of death and thrash, but we don´t think that we are that specific style, maybe the new tracks can be labeled as technical Death Metal. There is more speed, without forgetting the technical side and the crushing aspect!.
Hoiw do you see the evolution of the band through its history?
We have had an important musical evolution in a band level and also individually.
What brough the new drummer to Necropolis´ music?
Because of his influences, Juan is doing Necropolis music to be really technical, his odd timing rhythms, his cymbals variations and extreme speed on the doubla bass, make the style that the band was searching for.
What can you tell me about "Incertidumbre"?
Incertidumbre was recorded and mixed in Hendrix Studio (Córdoba), on mid 1998. The record was released in the bginning of 2000, this was a late release because it was an independent production and the costs were bigger than our budget. The CD had a good response in Córdoba and in various provinces and Buenos Aires.
Do you have new songs for a new CD?
We are still creating the new tracks, there are already five ready to record and we think that we are going to use nine on the new CD.
Do you believe that Necropolis is a band that was made to play live? How are your shows?
The people´s critics on our live show are really good, better than those of the CD. So, I think that yes, Necrópolis was made to play live. I make you a comment on one show of the band: it was the presentation of Incertidumbre, the show had a great scenography, there were white crosses hanging all over the stage, all the place was full of horned animal skulls, lights and a great introduction with a gregorian chant (track number 6 of the CD) and white lights pointing to the soul that is on the CD cover. That was a really great show.
Which is the concept of the "Incertidumbre" lyrics?
The title Incertidumbre refers to an individual, subjective and dark destiny, and in an unexpected sense, to a death that maybe is more clear and evident than this life, life in hypotesis of dreams, beliefs and conjectures, faith in false religions, in steps without traces, in unknown paths, we are in an existence without knowing the reason of an end, or a chain of circumstances and situations that are related, there is only one state and that is that of Incertidumbre (Uncertainty).
Are you planning to come to Buenos Aires to do some concert?
We have always had the idea of playing in Buenos Aires but we have no relation with the people that make the shows, and we also have some comments from bands that if you want to play you have to pay (apart from the bus tickets) and that makes everything a little bit more difficult for us.
Why did you decide to do Death´s cover "Empty Words" in "Incertidumbre"?
Well, eventhough it exists a name so big and general as "Death", we think that words are presented with meaning and signification, it is in the individual level where they can construct worlds and hopes in the adecuated symbols, and also destroy and devastate with empty words.
Well, we are all fans of Death; we wanted to do a cover from the Symbolic CD and we decided Empty Words because of its musical level and lyrics.
Have you been influenced by technical death metal bands like Death, Sadus, etc. or are there primitive death metal bands that have also influenced Necropolis?
Yes, we have been influenced by technical bands and primitives too, the primitives ones are not so evident on Incertidumbre, but more in the new songs.
Something more that you want to say?
We would like to thanks media like yours because this is the way that the scene can not be stopped, with time this media will take the dust from our bodies and we will stop being underground.
