Interview with Dave Kibler from Lividity
Why did you choose to call your new album "Til Only the Sick Remain"?
Dave - To many bands are pussin' out or hitting more mainstream commercial success, so we name the album in honor of Lividity isn't one of those bands and we give a bloody salute to the other brutal bands who are still crushing the scene!! It also reflects the Lividity existance and how we do what we want with no compromise!! We don't want or try to out sicken any band, we aren't trying to be competitive or break new ground with our style!! We just love to jam!!
How would you compare "Til Only the Sick..." with "The Age of Clitoral Decay"?
Dave - Both albums have great catchy riffs and solid pounding!! I don't think one albums material is better than another, on ...'Til Only The Sick... there is way better production and flawless musicianship, more focused on that release as opposed to the errors and challenges we went through trying to finish The Age...
Each release has something for everybody and ...Til Only.. has a few as well!! Very powerful album from track 1 to track 9!! We dig it a lot!!
How did you get Scott to produce "Til only the sick..."?
Dave - We have been friends with Scott for a while now, since when he was drumming with Numskull back in the day!! So we knew it would be a confortable recording session!! It went better than we expected, we had so many options to record with that we got to play around with some sounds first and like the ones we used!! Scott even did some back up vocals with us like on A Womans Place Is On My Face...
Is a correct way to label your music as death/grind metal?
Dave - Sure... we are a death metal band by nature, but with using sick highs as well as dualing lows and the grinds, I would consider us death / grind fore sure!! Cum Soaked Torture Grind!!!
What are Lividity´s lyrics about?
Dave - Some serious fucking going on in them lyrics!! also some serial murder, grave robbing, cannibalism, sexual torture, pure blasphemy!!!
How do you see in the distance your album "Fetish for the Sick"?
Dave - A great CD with pure energy, raw sound, and total underground sickness!! That release was a lot of fun, even though there are tons of flaws in certain areas, it is still withheld time to this day and Ablated Records is still pressing that one and it still sells well!!
Which are your expectations on the tour with Gorerotted?
Dave - Obviously by now (coz it's October) you have realized we didn't get the chance to come over and do that with them, we don't have much money so it is hard to spend plane ticket money and still think we will survive after we get back home!! So we hope the label helps get us over there in 2003.....
Are you satisfied with the deal with Morbid Records?
Dave - Very much so, Morbid has helped us out considerably with promotion, distribution, and everything they said they would do for us has been accomplished, so now we are getting all the responses back!! It has all been crushing!! Salute Morbid....
Do you have any favorite bands?
Dave - Centurian, Hateplow, Cannibal Corpse, Incantation, Skinless, Vader, Suffocation, Cryptopsy, Sepsism, and other brutal bands of this nature!!!
Any final words?
Dave - Thanx Federico for the killer support bro... You Rule! Everyone contact us for a distro list from our Coven Of Death Distro and support the bands that support the scene!! Stay Sick
