Welcome back to the realm of the extreme !
The other day after Dio´s concert here in Buenos Aires, Argentina I met him in the hotel were the band was staying. I was surprised of how humble this man was. He talked to me as if he was talking to a friend and he didn´t show any egomaniac rock star attitudes. He stood there for a long time in the entrance of the hotel at 2.30 A.M. signing autographs, posing for pictures with the fans, smiling kindly and talking to the people. The same goes for bassist Jimmy Bain, he is also a really kind person and has a great attitude with fans and people in general.
Why am I telling you this? Well, first of all because I am a fan of Dio since I was a kid and the second point is because I am going to talk about the prejudice that people have against the metal public in general. Yes, people from this hotel were kind of scared or something like that for having all this people near there comfortable luxury. But those that were waiting for Dio taught those assholes a lesson: first of all they were really respectful of everybody, then Ronnie arrived and wanted to go first to his room and then come back…and all the fans made a corridor so he could go inside with no trouble and clap their hands…great! But the surprise of the assholes of the hotel was bigger when one of the organizers came and told everybody to make a queue so Ronnie could be with them one by one and everybody did it in complete order.
But I think that the people of the hotel got what they deserve two days later when Ricky Martin arrived and all those "inoffensive" girls lovers of "melodic music" and so…thrashed the hotel !!!
What I wanted to say is that many stupid people judges you for how you dress or how you look instead of for what you are. And most of the time they are completely wrong…but they are so stupid that they don´t realize that. Like what the orientals say: Those who don´t know and don´t know that they don´t know have to be avoid because they are the worst.
Last but not least I would like to thank a lot César Fuentes Rodriguez from Epopeya Magazine who helped me a lot this time.
