How would you define the music that Distraught makes?

RICARDO: Distraught tries to make metal with good guitar riffs, maintaining weight, melody and creativity. Now who defines the sound that we do is the public.

"Infinite Abyssal" is a really brutal album...was the main goal of Distraught to do the heaviest album that you could?

ANDRÉ: With certainty we wanted to do a heavier album than " Nervous System ", not the heaviest than we were able to. In any moment we thought like this. We thought more about complexity when we elaborated it.

How were the songs in "Infinite Abyssal" composed?

MARCOS: Me and Ricardo began to make riffs and to work them together with the drums.

The arrangements were made with all presents saying until getting the best possible result.

It is not enough to have a riff, It has to give life and continuity idea.

Do you feel related to some bands in the Brazilian scene like Nervochaos, Rebaelliun or Oligarquia for example?

GUSTAVO: We all knew them, but especially the personnel of Rebaelliun and Nervochaos that already played with us in some occasions. Nervochaos already divided so many times the stage with us that lost the bill. The members of Rebbaeliun live in the same city that us: Porto Alegre; what facilitates the contact and change ideas. Nervochaos is already in the battle for a long time, They have respect in Underground and They are conquering space more and more. Rebbaeliun got prominence deservedly overseas, but I believe that they will continue struggling for more space. We want to all of them a lot of success. We are equally in this fight for more space, more popularization. As much them as any metal band has to have a lot of determination in what is wanted because it is not easy to make metal in Brazil or out of him.

How would you compare "Infinite Abyssal" with "Nervous System"?

ÉVERSON: The similarities between "Nervous System" and "Infinite Abyssal" appear in melodies, thrash riffs and death passages, but only in it, for "Infinite" is creatively superior.

How do you see the evolution of the band since the "To Live Better" demo?

RICARDO: The band started with the purpose to get into a more crossover sound. By the time, we listened to metal bands and crossover bands, we were still learning to play. From them on there were so many changes in the band, new members and musical maturity. The new album is more complex, mature and captivating. We made an album for all the metal fans, it doesn't matter the style, keeping the characteristical aggressivety of the band.

Considering the evolution of the music of the band how do you think your compositions will be in some years?

ANDRÉ: We're going to keep the aggressivety, melody and technique in service of heavy music and trying to reach the maximum of originality as possible.

Do you have plans of playing live inside and outside Brazil?

MARCOS: In Brazil we are making several shows publishing " Infinite Abyssal " and we already played in Montevidéu 2 times. We want to do more shows for Latin America, besides in Argentina, but it really never happened a good contact to turn that into reality.

We hope that one day we get could to play at your country, because we know that there is a big public that appreciates the metal. All the metal bands has the dream to play in Europe. We have some contacts there, but we thought about doing everything in a way well thought and organized, but we are still thinking and working for that to happen.

Which are the bandīs main influences?

ÉVERSON: Death, Carcass, Judas Priest, Slayer, Napalm Death, Soilwork, Nevermore, Kreator, etc... and we'd like to play with any os these bands of with all these bands together in a Festival.

Any final words?

MARCOS: We'd like to say that is an immense pleasure to clarify the internauts that enjoy Metal about our band and we invite everyone to know our most recent album: "Infinite Abyssal" - just access MP3 in our site: http://www.distraught.cjb.net .
