How did you decide to start a label dedicated to extreme styles?
DAWN OF SADNESS was started as a distribution point when MAURO of CALVARY (one of cult Italian extreme bands) decided to start this activity in support of the band.
I've (ALEX) join MAURO in 1993/'94 to help his activity in a professional good vein as artworker and layout.

Which are the styles that you are promoting now?

DAWN OF SADNESS promote only extreme music as DEATH, DOOM, BLACK, GOTHIC,
GRIND, DARK... DAWN OF SADNESS supports especially ITALIAN extreme music and
bands.

How is the process in which you choose which band to release?
DAWN OF SADNESS hear all the music spread around the world and support only good music and bands. Is no present special process to choose the bands to be promoted by us.

Is there any of your releases that is your favorite? Why?
All the DAWN OF SADNESS releases and bands are favorite for us. We no promote ungood bands.

How is to be an independent label in Italy? Is it as difficult as here in
Southamerica?
The Underground is the only flame to find great act that in the future can be the master of one extreme music. We work only in the underground scene cause the unsigned bands can express a various and unique style. The italian scene (as the others in the world) is good and fill of great unsigned bands.
We think that the majors must sign these bands and not infantes bands as Cradle Of Filth.

How is your relationship with other independent labels of the world?
Our relationship is in the vein of only friendship. We are working with various labels as ADIPOCERE or WORLDCHAOS. For us is not important that the label is a major or undergroud. For us is important to work with only good music and people.

Which is your opinion on the Italian extreme music scene?
The Italian scene is very good and professional now respect 7/8 years ago. Fills of great bands as NECRODEATH or OPERA IX and good underground bands. Personally we love the ITA underground scene!

Are you organizing concerts in Italy for extreme bands?
DAWN OF SADNESS is not a booking agency for live shows.

Which are the steps that Dawn of Sadness recs will take
in the near future?
DAWN OF SADNESS is now working to put out the first compilation TOTALLY online called SCREAMS FROM ITALY. Visiting our site, http://www.dawnofsadness.com is present the vol VI with all infos for each
bands with MP3s TOTALLY free with TOTALLY only good extreme acts. Visiting
our site, you can see and hear the other vols of this compilation, totally six vol for over 100 mp3 with bands as FUNERAL ORATION, DETESTOR, INFERNAL POETRY, UNREAL, ZERO SIGNAL, NOX PERPETUA, DARK LUNACY... In the future we are working to put out SCREAMS FROM ABYSS I with bands coming around the world.
