Judging by the cover art I expected something different and Abitbollus surprised me with pure brutality where elements like death metal, black metal and grindcore are combined. The band is original and there are many influences combined, including some Rammstein-like vocals in "Capillo Tractum". There are brutal vocals here, really of the guttural type used in grindcore and also agonic ones closer to black metal or to grindcore. The rhythms here are always changing with strong emphasis on really fast ones, but everything here is really weird and experimental. The rhythm section is tight and that is evident on the multiple changes on each tune. the sound of the recording is raw and loud, giving that brutal feeling to the instruments.

An atmospheric intro with wind sounds and eerie keyboards open up this recording, taking the listener into the dark realm of Adalruna. Then comes the mayhem of pure destruction ! Adalruna is a one man project whose music is pure aggressive and raw black metal with extremely fast parts and agonic vocals that go beyond the limits of the style. There are also some parts where the ultra fast parts are a little bit slower and where there is use of keyboards, such as in “Lord of the Runes”. But the sound of Adalruna is pure aggression unleashed and pure experimentation with speed and brutal elements. The sound of the recording is raw, giving the feeling of old school black metal to the music, but letting you feel all the intensity that Adalruna can deliver.

Tracks: 1-the Fallen Prince 2-Visions of (Dis)illusion 3-Drifting 4-Circle with the End |
A duet between guitar and bass open up this album, showing some surprises to the listener. Here we have a band that is difficult to label since their music has elements of death metal and black metal in the extreme voice but at the same time they don´t use the typical characteristics of those styles, preferring to explore new paths within aggressive music. An example of this is the beginning of “Visions of (Dis)illusion” that soon turns into a more black metallish riff with extreme voices. There are calm parts here and there but the main thing is the aggression unleashed by this band. The recording has a raw sound that is effective, making each of the instruments sound really in the front. An original and extreme release.

This is pure crust and hardcore coming from this two crushing bands from Sweden and Norway. This is pure fast and furious music with intense riffs and fast rhythms that go right for your throat. The music here is direct and it has no mercy for the listener, crushing him from beginning to end. Influences of eighties classic bands like Discharge or even some Gang Green can be seen here but all clearly mixed with the bands own sound. I have to say that the guys here have a really loud and direct sound that fits perfectly the overall music. A crushing split.

Raw black metal with some elements of death metal is what we have here. This is pure aggression unleashed with unholy screamings and blast beats on the drums. Here we have guitars playing blasting riffs at the speed of light and creating a dark atmosphere while the vocals spit with utter hate the lyrics. The rhythm section delivers fast rhythms and changes and breaks, being their role essential to achieve the Blasphemous Creation sound. The sound of the recording is really raw and direct, making you remind some early nineties recordings from this style.

Tracks: 1-Take what is yours 2-One tear for Glory 3-The Enemy 4-The Human Touch 5-Left Alone |
Here we have in our hands the new Blynd release. And we have here a band whose music is powerful and at the same time truly memorable. Brutal vocals are combined here with crushing guitar riffs, creating five tunes of pure aggression. The combination of elements from different metal styles is essential here, including also some wah wah on the guitars while they play killer solos in tunes like "take what is yours" . The rhythm section si powerful but at the same time leaves plenty of space for the guitars and the vocals to do their job. I have to remark the improvement in sound that the band shows on this release, specially on the fat gutiar sound and the crushing drumming.

“Bestial Bloodwar” opens up with full brutality this crushing black metal release. If you are a lover o the old school of black metal with fast riffs and crushing blast beats, then you will surely enjoy Burial Hordes music. Here we have fast running guitar riffs that are the core of the music here. And we have agonic aggressive vocals full of hatred that spit with all hate and blasphemy the lyrics. There are influences also of some death metal and thrash metal here and there but the main thing here is pure black metal. The drumming is extremely fast with blast beats and thrash patterns that make each tune here extremely aggressive. The sound of the recording is raw yet effective, with that special old school sound that this style must have.

Tracks: 1-Praise the Bloodcode of Hatred 2-Devotion to Unholy Creed 3-Splendid Destruction |
This is a promo with three tracks showing the improvements that this black metal band has had since their previous effort. The band continues being really fast as can be seen in "Praise the Bloodcode of Hatred" but this time they sound tighter and even more aggressive. the guitars deliver ultra fast riffs in the pure black metal way. Blasphemic vocals are spitted agains the crushing rhythms with pure hate, and this time there are many mid tempos where the band shows even more heaviness. The sound is direct and loud, letting you feel all the aggression delivered by this unholy band.

Tracks: 1-Courage and Fear 2-Hurricane Scream 3-Unbearable 4-Poll 5-Sauvage 6-The Last Hours - Memories 7-My enemy 8-Ghost in my Mouth |
This is a band whose music can be described as a combination of many different styles, such as hard rock, modern metal, hardcore and even pure heavy metal in some parts. One thing that surprises are the vocals that sometimes go really aggressive and brutal and in the next part they take a more rocking feeling. The guitars are the main thing here, adding riffs (even some bluesy ones in tunes like “Hurricane Scream”) and also adding solos and melodies here and there with really good taste. The vocalist is really versatile, giving a lot of different feelings to his voice and emphasizing the overall feeling of each composition. There are good choruses too and that is essential to make the tunes really memorable as they are. A really good release of pure eclectic metal with interesting tunes. |

Cannibe opens up this split CD with full violence in “Rigurgiti part 2”, a track that is pure gore grind with full speed programmed drumming and ultra grindcore vocals. Chainsaw like guitars are the essence here delivering ultra fast one note progressions. There are also some slower tempos here which have a brutal sound but the main thing here is pure aggressive speed. Then comes Dissected with “Pernicious Anaemia” a tune that shows what we have already seen in previous recordings by the band: that they are fast end extremely brutal with ultra extreme voices that fit perfectly the fast guitar riffs and the crushing rhythms delivered by the drumming. The sound of the guitars is raw and direct, emphasizing a sort of live recording feeling that the music here has. This is a really brutal split cd that will be loved by the lovers of the most extreme kind of brutal music.

Majestic atmospheric keyboards open this album in “Abschied”, interacting with clean guitars, before the wonderful voice of Swawa enters adding more beauty to the music. Swawa is the brain behind Carved in Stone´s music, doing all the composition and playing all the instruments with really good compositional skills and musicianship. Each of the tunes here is cleverly constructed with a sort of pagan folk feeling, showing multiple melodies and arrangements that surprise with beauty. This is what I call a really calm, deep and enjoyable album where you can discover new elements and features on each listening. A must have.

And they deliver here fast guitar riffs with a really huge sound that makes each note really violent and loud. The riffs are loud and direct, leaving space for the brutality of the rhythm section and for the vocals that spit the lyrics with pure anger. The rhythms are also fast and direct with crushing sound in the drums that are like a hammer through your brain. Opening with the powerful riff of “Absence” Centrifuge soon shows that their music is powerful metal with some seventies influences and many atmospheres. Black Sabbathesque riffs are all over the place here, played with utter heaviness and creating truly aggressive and dense tunes that are memorable and powerful. The vocals are of the type that delivers interesting melodies with a melancholic feeling that set the feeling for the overall compositions. The guitar sound is huge and at the same time it has a definitive seventies feeling that is characteristic of Centrifuge´s sound. Opening with a really good riff in “Sinner”, the guys from Chosen show that they are a perfectly synchronized metal machine that combine powerful riffs with good melodies in a pure metal way, with some thrash influences. The drummer here kicks ass as you can see in the beginning of “Inside Solution” where he uses good technical skills and later he interacts cleverly with the guitar riffs. I have to remark the versatility of the vocalist who is really powerful and delivers good melodies full of energy and aggression. I have to remark also how tight the band sounds, showing that they are really well rehearsed. And that tightness adds extra points of power to the music. The sound of the recording is loud and clear and I liked especially the drums sound that is like a crushing machine delivered against the listener.

Here we have the latest Code of Honour release and we see here that the band has established well in their own brand of metal that combines death metal with modern metal in the vein of Machine Head and Sepultura. Brutal riffs are the main thing here creating the main structure of the compositions and showing aggression through the three tracks. And the guitars add also good solos in tunes like "Still wearing the crown". The tunes use a lot of mid tempos that emphasize heaviness instead of speed. The drumming is intense and there is good use of cymbals and also of double bass in order to interact with the guitar riffs. The vocals are aggressive, of the type where you can udnerstand all the lyrics but that are brutal at the same time. I have to remark the good sound that the recording has, specially on the guitars and drums.

And that is what Countime´s music is about: pure aggression and pure power. The music here is brutal modern metal with elements of hardcore, thrash metal and also of bands like Biohazard, Sepultura and Machine Head. Crushing guitars deliver riff after riff with sheer intensity and the drumming is really intense, cracking your brain hit after hit. The rhythm section is extremely solid, creating the main brutal rhythms and given really solid foundations for the music. The vocals are of the type that are shouted or spitted with pure aggression. I have to remark the amazing sound that this recording has, especially on the extremely huge guitars that are like a ten ton hammer.

Tracks: 1-Divine Collision 2-Lord of War 3-Away 4-Dignity 5-My Curse |
An opening with a bass soon takes into interesting sounding guitar melodies in “Divine Collision” before the pure metal is unleashed here. This is pure metal with a melancholic atmosphere in many parts and with some progressive elements, especially on the keyboards. The guitar riffs contrast heavily with the orchestrating keyboards that creates atmospheres and arrangements through all the compositions. And there are good vocals with a wide range here that give sort of a pure heavy metal feeling with an epic sound. There is really good musicianship here and that is evident in the multiple changes and arrangements created through all the recording. And the vocals delivered by vocalist Jennifer Lazure are essential here to transmit the Descent into Madness feeling to the listener. This vocals are contrasted with the male growling voice that gives a more extreme metal feeling to the music. And the guitars also interact cleverly adding melodies here and there. Six years ago or so we reviewed the previous Discern release, a really aggressive and experimental release. Now, here we have the new recording from this one man band. Billy Fraser is the brain behind Discern and here he shows how he can combine different metal styles, making tunes that are really wild and aggressive and at the same time truly original. Death metal guttural voices are combined with screaming voices that are delivered against crushing guitar riffs and also against incredible blues parts. There are fast guitar solos in many parts and multiple changes in tempo and pace that show that Billy has good technical skills and good taste, specially in the more bluesy solos. Some weird rocking type of guitar riffs open up the part of the brutal band Dissected here in an unconventional way for this really brutal band. Then comes “Gorespattered instruments” which starts also with a more pure metal riff and then turns into a faster and more brutal part. The music here is extremely aggressive as has always shown this bestial band with crushing rhythms and really bestial vocals. Rectal Cumshot also delivers here ultra extreme and brutal grind with extremely fast programmed drums and truly grindcore voices that are used like another instrument to add more violence to the music. The Rectal Cumshot tunes are shorter and they are bursts of pure brutality unleashed. The recording has a raw sound in both bands, giving even more brutal sound to the music.

This is pure crust with influences of death metal and also of some black metal sin some parts. Starting with the longest track, "Anno domini", the band soons hows that their music is all about pure aggression and brutality. Here we have really big guitar riffs with a huge sound played at fast speed creating the riffs that are the core of the music here. And we have brutal vocals that ar of the kind used in crust. One of my faviorite tunes here is "Rusande Mot Ruset",a tune with a definitive Motorhead influence that have a pure rock and metal attuitude. I have to remark that the recording has a good and loud sound that emphasizes the aggression delivered by this swedish band. |
