Denethor is a Dutch Black Metal band, consisting of four members. Dracul, Schmerzen, Nocturnas and Profaner. Band History The legend of Denethor started during the cold winter of 1995. The line-up consisted of Schmerzen (guitars), Myst (vocals), Nocturnasz (drums) and Profaner (bass). A month after Denethor started, they added a female singer, Gineke. After a few months she left the band, because female vocals didn't fit in the musical style Denethor performs. Before Denethor, Myst was the singer of a death-metal band called Obscurity and Schmerzen played drums in the same band. Schmerzen had also been playing guitars since 1994, but Nocturnasz and Profaner never played an instrument before. They both started playing their instruments in December 1995, when Denethor started. In September 1997 Myst left Denethor, and the band found a replacement in Dracul...

Denethor practiced every week in Schmerzen's garage, located deep in the woods of Nunspeet. Dracul also lives in Nunspeet and Nocturnasz and Profaner are from Apeldoorn. Since September 1997 Denethor practices every Saturday at the JeJoCeMa in Apeldoorn.. Denethor's first live performance was on October the 18th 1996 in Ermelo. Since then, they greatly improved their act. They always use a dark intro before they enter the stage, to warm up the audience. Their podium act includes drinking real pig's blood! Denethor have played many gigs with many bands, including Sabbatical Goat, Pentacle, Tsatthoggua, Liar of Golgotha, Avatar, etc.

Music Style Since the very beginning, Denethor have created their own musical style, which is very difficult to compare to any other black metal band. Denethor uses many tempo changes, from extremely fast and brutal to very slow. Most of the lyrics are in English, although most new songs are in Dutch. Every member of the band has written lyrics and music.
In May 1998 the band decided to split up, so that's basically the story of Denethor. Hereby we would like to thank everybody who supported us.. Hail!
