1- How did youi started the band in 2001?
The three of us have been friends since we were kids growing up in New Jersey. We've been playing in bands together before we were in high school but, oddly enough, never connected as a three piece until years later. Around 1997 we were all located at different points on the map, Adam had moved to Boston to attend Berklee school of music, Anthony went out to Los Angeles to pursue rock n roll on the west coast and I stayed in New Jersey playing in local hard core bands. I think in our hearts there was never really any question whether or not we would come together to rock the fuck out, it was more a question of when and where. Around 2000 Adam and myself got it started in Boston, working on songs, playing out and recording with various drummers. Both of us knew there was but one man fit to sit behind the kit for us, but Ant was still on the other side of the country playing in California. Then one day, in the winter of 2001 we got the phone call that changed everything, Ant was packing up, leaving L.A. and heading to Boston to join the group. He got here in the Fall of '01 and we've been pushing hard since.
2- How do you feel the music of the band has evolved since the beginnings?
We're more song oriented now than in the group's beginnings. The music has definitely gotten more consice. We're not as hung up on cramming a song full of riffs and intricate parts as we were when the band was younger. We've never really been concerned if our shit was 'mosh' worthy or not, we focus more on the melody than anuthing else. We try to get more said by playing less.
3- How was "You won´t feel a thing" received in the underground?
So far we've got nothing but positive feedback. Everybody was real excited for it to come out and i feel we lived up to or even surpassed people's expectations.
4-How would you describe All Parallels music?
Good.
5- What are the lyrics of "You won´t..." about?
Each song's got its own meaning or theme for me personally. I draw from my own experiences as well as just good old human observation. Honestly I get caught up in writing about death a lot, I can't help it, it's my number one concern as sad as that may sound. But with "You Won't Feel a Thing" I tried to liven it up a little. I threw in a bit of vengeful love song lyrics with Hex and while I was at it I thought I'd get a tad smutty, and so you have Nymphomaniac. But really I try to write in a way that everybody can interpret their own ideas into the lyrics. I leave a lot out, ya know? It's more fun for the whole family that way
6- How is the process of composition of a typical All Parallels song?
Usually, the guitar parts come first, I'll find a vocal melody that works well with a riff and then go through the arduous task of putting lyrics to fit that melody. But the song doesn't truly take shape until we've jammed it out a shitload in our dirty, smelly rehearsal space.
7- Which is your equipment live and in studio?
Adam plays a PRS through a Mesa Boogie tube amp and mesa cab, I rock a five tring Tobias through SWR SM400s head and SWR 2x10t cabinet and the Big Ben cabinet, Anthony plays a custom Spaun kit. We use the same equipment live and in the studio.
8- How would you describe an All Parallel´s concert?
A lot of energy. We go fucking apeshit. The object is to bring a big arena, stadium rock vibe to a small club, When we step off a stage we want people to say "those boys are fucking crazy".
9- Are you influenced by modern bands as well as by classical hardcore bands?
Not as much by modern heavy bands as other forms of music. We grew up on that shit, it's in our blood. Most of our influences in the genre of hard rock have already left their mark. That's not to say we don't listen to new stuff, we do what we do, everybody else does what they do. If we tried to sound like other bands today we would cease to sound like ourselves..
10- Any final words?
Bye.
