How big is the thrash metal influence in Taetre´s music?
It's kinda a big influence, doesn't that show when you listen to the album. We love it like the plague!
How would you compare "Divine Misanthropic madness" with Out of Emotional Disorder"?
If you compare the first 2 albums, "The Art" has more black metal influences while "Out of Emotional Disorder" has more thrash metal. The new album "Divine Misanthropic Madness" is less melodic than both previous albums. It’s a lot more old school death and even more thrashy than "Out of…". The lyrics are the most explicit ever, and the layout is the coolest we’ve ever had. A really nice looking package!
Why did Conny and Danyael leave the band? How did the entrance of D.K. and Maggot changed Taetre´s music?
In January 2001 Conny left the band and since then we´ve had D.K. playing bass guitar for us. This was exacly what we needed, since the band was dying. With D.K. we got some freshblood in the band, and that was great! Danyael also left the band due to sickness and this left the door opened for Maggot our newest member. We are still good friends with both Conny and Danyael, and we hope the best for them, since they both are killerdudes! I shouldn't say that they changed the music, since I make around 95% of all the music.
How did you get Andy la Rocque to mix and produce "Divine Misanthropic Madness"?
We've worked with him on our previous 2 albums. So it was natural for us to have him doing our third one aswell, since we were very happy with the results.
Why are the new songs less melodic than the older ones? Was this done on purpose or was it a natural progression?
Because I am so fucking tired of melodic death metal. We didn't want to be apart of this anymore, so we went more into the realms of thrash metal and old school death metal.
How were the new songs composed?
I made them in my home. Putting them together, and then we do the finnishing touches at our rehearsalplace. I don't want to the others to be left out completly, so at rehearsal they can come up with their ideas about the stuff.
Are you planning a tour in order to support "Divine..."
I hope that there will be something this spring. I havn't gotten any details so far so we shall see.
Which is the most important element in your music: brutality, melody or atmospheres?
Kind of tricky question. I don't think that any element is more important than the other, but it depends on what the hell you mean with melodies. I think that melodies could be cool, but probably not the kind most people would consider as melodies. If it is folklore or Iron Maiden melodies, I would not include them at all. But if it is the kind of horrormovie melodies, then it's a completly different thing. Even though, brutality and a certain amount of atmosphere is also needed.
Something more to add?
Thanks for your support. Go out and buy the album!
