Interview with Nemtheanga (vocals). I would like to thank Anne Marie Bowman from Manic Prod. for getting us this interview
Has "Storm Before the Calm" fulfilled your expectations both musically and
in terms of reception by the audience?
Difficult to say, you live with something so closely its hard to view it
ojectively. I think the album could be longer with some more acoustics and
variation but you know we had a tight budget and had time constrictions. I
think Storm represents us at this particular stage of our journey well
enough...
Which do you think are the main changes or evolution between "Spirit the
Earth Aflame" and "Storm..."?
"Storm" is heavier and fuller, we wanted to get a more direct sound, a better
drum sound and sometimes a more aggressive approach. The songs were written
in a shorter time frame and therefore are more instant and aggressive I
think as well.

Why did you choose Mags to produce "Storm..." and Academy Studios to
record it?
He understands us very well and knows what we have to do in the timeframe
allowed.
Has the cover art of "Storm..." a special meaning?
Its just a simple symbolic meaning, what could be more symbolic then an eye?,
be it the eye of Balor, Odin, Horus or whomever. its a universal symbol.
How are Primordial songs with all those changes, melodies, and
arrangements composed?
Someone comes with a musical idea and we all build upon it and then I add
the lyrics as time goes on, we don´t really have one particular formula we
just do as we feel.
Where did you get the inspiration to compose the lyrics in "Storm..."?
People, places, passages in time, life experience in general, how I relate
to things like other people, my culture and mythology, places I visit, read,
see, many things.
How important are the melancholic parts and dark atmospheres for
Primordial´s music?
Obviously very important seeing as they are always there ?.
Atmosphere is the operative word here.
Since the tour with Dismember was cancelled...do you have plans of
touring to support "Storm..."?
Several things have been talked about but i think we will go with Rotting
Christ in January across Europe, should be cool, i think Bloodstorm from the
states are joining the tour as well, should be a good time I think.
hopefully we will get to the Us in 2003.
Do you have some tracks from the first years of the band that will maybe
be rearranged and released some day?
Possibly one or two we havent really talked about it.
i think we have used up every old riff we had...
Any final words?
hopefully see you in the states one day...
until then rock hard ride free
