Interview with Eric Meyer guitarist from Brick Bath

How has been "I Won´t Live the Lie" received since its release in March?

Eric: We're amazed at how well the record has done. Do to unforeseen circumstances we weren't able to tour as much as we wanted to for this record but it has continued to sell well despite that.

How would you compare "I Won´t..." with "Scarred"?

Eric: We we're a little less aggressive on "Scarred" and even though that record never got released I think it's a good record. I still think we'll play some of those songs again (maybe on the next record) but they'll probably be heavy'ed up a bit.

Why did you decide to change the name of the band from Epitaph to Brick Bath?

Eric: We lost the rights to the name, and I like the new name better anyway... haha

Why did you start your own recording studio?

Eric: We have recorded in a lot of studios and never been happy with the final results not to mention the money involved in blocking out the studios to record. I had been recording all of our pre-production stuff for a long time and it sounded better than most of the stuff we paid for. I bought a bunch of gear and recorded the record, and it's the happiest we've been to date... But the next one will be a lot better.

What is more important in Brick Bath´s music? The fast side, the rhythmic side or the heavy side?

Eric: I think all of those things have to come together to keep everything interesting. If you get stuck on one thing it doesn't make for a very interesting record.

What are "I Won´t..." lyrics about? I can feel anger in them...

Eric: Yeah, Joey is a pretty angry guy! They're basically about personal experiences and views, I think it's Joey's way of releasing all the crap he had to deal with in life.

Can we say that Brick Bath´s music is a power-groove thrash metal band, or do you prefer another description of your music?

Eric: Hell, as long as you like it I don't give a crap what you call it... hahaha. I guess that pretty well describes what we are. We have some old school thrash influences, some heavy Sepultura type shit, and some good old Lynyrd Skynyrd type southern groove thrown in for good measure.

Which are for you the most important shows that Brick Bath has done?

Eric: Every show we do is important. It is very important for us to put on the best show we can every time we play. We are a live band and we feel most comfortable when we're on stage, so we give a 110% every time.

Something more to add?

Eric: Keep up the kick ass work!!! We will be recording the next record over the next couple months and in about Jan. we will start touring very heavily so keep an eye out for a new record and many tours in the near future!!! For more info on the band, please visit
