Interview with Alex Giuliani, drummer of the powerful IV Luna

How has been "D´Íncanto" received by the metal audience?

The metal audience seems to appreciate our work! we' re very glad and proud, because we had problems with it in the past. But now magazines and audience are treating very well the new album and they're appreciating italian lyrics too! It's a great satisfaction for us!

How do you think the band has evolved from "Libera Mente" to "D´Incanto"?

Well, i think there's a great evolution between the releases. We have spent 4 years in concerts and life together, we have implemented our union and brotherhood. We've grown, but we still have to improve every day!

How is the deal with Blond Records?

We're very glad of it. Blond Records is the first label who believed in our work. We're very grateful to our label! But it's only a little part of our history... IV Luna are still alive and we have to thank ourself and people like you, Federico!

How were the tracks in "D'incanto" composed? Did the method changed compared to the one used in "Libera Mente"?

The composition is always the same. The album came out from jam sessions in our studio. We always work together and it's very cool! We have lot of tapes, full of our jam-session! We're like a sculptor, we start with a big stone and we beat it until it becomes a good work!

What do you think now when you listen to your "IV Luna" demo tape?

Well, it sounds so old and ingenuous! But i'm very proud of it! We were young musicians and young composers... that demo-tape was the best of IV Luna in 1997.

How important is the technical side of your music to achieve the final result that we can listen in your albums?

Well, i think it's not so important. First of all, in our music, emotional side is more important! We're not great musicians, we have to improve very much. But we like to exercise our minds, more than our hands!

Which are the band´s main influences?

Our influences are very multicoloured! We like to listen some old italian prog-band like Banco del Mutuo Soccorso or Pfm.. but we like also doom, hard rock, thrash metal and everything sounds good to us! Well... three days ago we've gone to see Darkness in concert! And two weeks ago Anthrax too! Very multicoloured! We like everything!!!!

Are you supporting "D'incanto" live? Which were your most memorable gigs?

Yes, we're supporting the new album with concerts and interviews everywhere! It's very cool and exciting! We really enjoy ourselves to ride and play our songs! We had very good concerts, people really appreciated! It's great to see people that sing with us!

Anything more to add?

At the moment we're composing new songs for the next album... material is very good! We hope to record a good album and we hope to reach people everywhere! And we hope to play in Argentina very soon!
